Guidance-

We recognize that every student has diverse abilities, strengths, aspirations and interests.  The Guidance Department assists students with making responsible and informed decisions about career choices, course selections and post secondary planning. Our department is located right down the hall from the Main Office.  Students are encouraged to come down and make an appointment with one of our Counsellors.

Our services include:

• Individual Pathway Planning (Educational and Career Planning)
• Transition planning for Grade 9 students including visits to elementary schools (in the fall and spring), Grade 8 Day (November), Open House (November), and other visits throughout the year
• Course Selections (February each year)
• Timetable changes (first couple of weeks of each semester)
• Information about College and University Application process
• Facilitating College and University visits (September through November each year)
• Meeting with all graduating students to discuss their post-secodnary plans/options
• Scholarship and Bursary Information
• Community Service Opportunities
• Assisting classroom teachers with presentations about course options, post-secondary destinations, SHSM (as a part of the Careers curriculum)
• Facilitating services offered by our School Nurse, Youth Counsellor, Social Worker, and Settlement Workers in Schools
