Westlane is where you belong.  Learning another language to help you communicate with your fellow Spartans and even the world is what you need to do! Why not bolster your language skills in one of Canada’s official languages, and enjoy your experience in doing so?

While taking French in grade 9 is mandatory, we know that you will have a wonderful expérience française completing this credit. Our program is centered on promoting interaction and real world application of linguistic abilities, preparing students for use of these skills outside the classroom, in grade 9 as well as our elective French courses offered in grades 10, 11, and 12. We also ensure our students are exposed to a variety of material from a broad range of francophone sources, most notably, the novels we study at the senior level, pictured below.

Should students remain in French up until their grade 12 year, they will be granted the opportunity to attempt the DELF exam. This is an internationally recognized exam that, upon successful completion, students can use to bolster their resume with this certification, which qualifies their French proficiency at various levels.
