Anniversary Events
Registration Early registration is encouraged by sending in a completed pre registration form (found on first page), along with a cheque or money order by May 1, 2010. Your registration package will be available upon arrival at the school. If you do not plan to pre-register, you are welcome to do so at the school on Friday, May 21, please note there will be limitations on availability to certain events. Throughout the weekend.... ART SHOW AND SALE (Committee Chair needed) On display throughout the school will be art work created by Westlane students and grads. Some pieces will be available for purchase. If you would like to co-ordinate the event or contribute to the event, please contact us at westlanereunion@dsbn.edu.on.ca. Your contribution is greatly appreciated! To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Westlane, the Visual Art Department
is planning on presenting an Art Show to feature one or two pieces
of current work from former Westlane Students. If you are a graduate
of
Westlane and are an amateur or professional artist, you are welcome
to participate. Please contact Mrs. Greenall at victoria.greenall@dsbn.edu.on.ca SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE Our Nostalgia Committee is working hard gathering old pictures, yearbooks, uniforms, jackets and other neat stuff from years gone by. These artifacts will be set up in “Decade Rooms” throughout the school. If you have pictures of student activities, staff, the building itself or any artifacts such as clothing books, equipment to share for the display for your decade, please contact us at westlanereunion@dsbn.edu.on.ca. Your items will be tagged for easy return to you after the event. Also on Friday and Saturday tours of the school will be available. Come and see what has changed and what has stayed the same since you walked these hallowed halls. Organized by Mrs. Rakonjac and the current Student Council, the tours will run on the half hour. IN MEMORY Tenderly we treasure the past, With memories that will always last, Memories are like threads of gold, They never tarnish or grow old. A tribute to those who have passed will be created. Friday, May 21st OPENING CEREMONIES 5:30 p.m. SPORTS WALL OF HONOUR INDUCTION SERVICE 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Join us as Westlane recognizes the first inductees to the new Westlane Sports Wall of Honour found just outside of the gym.
ALUMNI GAMES 7:00 - 10 :00 p.m. Following
the Induction ceremonies, there will be Alumni basketball games in
the gym. If you would like to participate as a player, please contact

WINE & CHEESE SOCIAL 7:00-10:30 p.m. Gather with friends and reminisce at the Wine & Cheese Social. Registration for the 50th Anniversary weekend will allow you access to this event. The Pre-Registration Form can be found here on our website. Your first glass of wine (or beer) is included in the price and will be served to you in the 50th Anniversary keepsake wine (beer) glass. Non-alcoholic drinks will be available, and cheese & crackers will be served throughout the evening. Must be 19 years or older to attend this event. Saturday, May 22nd MOTORCYCLE POKER RUN Start the morning off with a fun motorcycle run around Niagara Falls. Mike Booth (class of ‘69) welcomes you to join the group. Guys and gals are welcome. For more details contact Mike at michael_booth@atlantic.ca Saturday, May 22nd BARBEQUE 12:00-2:00 p.m. The current Westlane Student Council will be cooking up hot dogs and hamburgers with drinks and snacks while you spend the afternoon at the many events celebrating 50 years at Westlane. AFTERNOON JAM 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Over the years many Westlane grads have continued their love for music nurtured during their high school years. Some of our former students will be back to perform for us during the afternoon. Sit down for An afternoon of music by graduates of Westlane. After the opening ceremony enjoy music by bands who have reunited in honour of our schools 50th reunion. Listen to music, chat with friends and relax. BEER GARDEN 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. Beer, wine and pop will be available for purchase while you are enjoying the Afternoon Jam. Must be 19 or older to attend this event. ALUMNI GAMES 12:00-4:00 p.m. The theme of the day is “ the older we get the better we were.” Please join us for some light hearted competition. SATURDAY EVENING SOCIAL 7:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m. The Organizing Committee has arranged an evening of fun at the Serbian Hall on Montrose Rd. Tickets are $35 each and will include food and 1 drink ticket. You must be registered to buy your first ticket. A limited number of additional dance tickets may be purchased. Once again, former Westlane Music Spartans will perform while you socialize with your friends from the past. Must be 19 years or older to attend this event. Sunday, May 23rd GOLF TOURNAMENT 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. Join us for more friendly competition at the Links of Niagara at Willodell. The committee has arranged for a fun tournament for the afternoon. The $ 50 fee will include green fees, cart, food and 1 drink ticket. Join us as a foursome or as an individual for our last event of the celebration. If you would like to purchase a golf shirt to mark the event they will be available with your pre-registration for $20. The shirt will be green with a white logo.
